Your child’s school dental visit
Victorian Mobile Dental Health visits Victorian schools and early learning centres with a mobile dental van. This page explains how to prepare, give consent and ask questions about your child’s care.
Before the school visit
Check the visit information provided by your school. A parent or guardian needs to complete and sign the online dental consent form before their child participates.
Have your child’s school and class details, Medicare details, and relevant medical history ready. Include allergies, medications and medical conditions so the dental team has the information needed for the visit. If your school supplied a dedicated consent link, use it to prefill the school selection.
What happens at school?
Appointments are held during school hours. VMDH provides oral health assessments and dental care through its mobile service. Treatment depends on your child’s needs and the permissions you give in the consent form.
If you need to discuss your child’s care, correct details on a submitted form or ask about further treatment, contact the VMDH team.
Medicare Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS)
CDBS can help eligible children with the cost of basic dental services. Eligibility includes Medicare eligibility, being aged 0–17 for at least one day in the calendar year, and meeting the qualifying payment requirements. See Services Australia’s eligibility criteria.
Your child’s available benefit depends on their eligibility and remaining balance for the relevant two-calendar-year period. VMDH checks eligibility before bulk billing. Check the current benefit limits and how to check your balance before the visit.
If your child is not eligible, or you plan to use private insurance, ask our team about current fees and check your policy with your insurer before agreeing to treatment.
Ready to give consent?
Read the permissions in the form carefully and contact us if anything is unclear. More information is available in our frequently asked questions and privacy policy.
